Memories of Michael Joslin
Michael Allan Joslin
Michael Allan Joslin was born October 21st, 1961 in Fresno, CA to Bobby Wayne Joslin and Carol Gaye (Fisher) Joslin. Mike left this earth on June 23rd, 2019. He is survived by his parents; his children, Evan, Aaron, Katie, and Rece; his sisters, Terri Ann Taylor, and Shelly Joslin; his half brother, David Joslin; and his niece, Amber Heflin. He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his nieces, Carrie and Emily Heatherly.
Mike grew up in Moore, OK and attended Moore High School, class of 1979. Mike set off for CA in 1987 with his friend Jeff, in search of new adventures. They stopped in Denver for a few days and quickly fell in love with the beauty of Colorado. It didn't take long for Mike to realize he wasn't going any further. Mike made a name for himself working in the bar and restaurant business in Denver. He was fondly referred to as "Michael J Buffet". In 1990, Mike married Stacie Evans. He was the General Manager at Western Sizzlin Steakhouse until 1991 when they moved to Oklahoma after the tragic death of his two nieces. Mike went back to the construction business he had grown up with, and as with everything else he had done, made a name for himself with the builders in OKC. He started his own business, appropriately named MJB Drywall & Remodeling. On March 17, 1993, June 18, 1994, and October 15, 1999 respectively, he welcomed his children, Evan Michael, Aaron Wayne, & Katie Irene Joslin. In 2000 he moved back to Denver where he continued to work in construction until the years of being so hard on his body finally took its toll on him. In 2004 Mike had the 1st of 3 major back surgeries. His marriage ended amicably in 2006. Through it all, Mike found love again in 2007 and married Susanne McCarthey. On November 7, 2008 he welcomed another daughter, Rece Michelle Joslin. His marriage to Susanne ended in 2014.
Nothing brought more joy to Mikes life than spending time with his children. He loved watching Evan and Aaron play baseball, Katie play volleyball, and Rece play softball. He attended choir and band concerts, award ceremonies, and made sure everyone around him knew that those were "his" kids. He was so proud of them all.
In 2013, Mike began providing help for his mother as her health declined, and in 2017 began caring for her full time until he could no longer physically provide proper care for her and moved her to a nursing home.
Though he continued to suffer with chronic pain, he tried to take on small jobs as he could. Always taking great pride in a job well done. Prior to his death, he had just finished a tile job for a neighbor that was described as a work of art. Mike will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
Mikes remains will be laid to rest over Joslin Valley in Southeastern Oklahoma. "Pain no more!" Rest In Peace Michael Allan Joslin.
